Queensland State Budget 2007 - 2008

Continued economic growth in the state has provided the Beattie Government with the ability to come up with a $14 billion spending bonanza. The main areas targeted by this huge investment will be water, transport, energy, health & education. Peter Beattie and Anna Bligh comment on the Queensland Government website that, "more than 50% of the capital investment is allocated outside Brisbane". Good news for us in the South East, that remaining slice of cake, after Brisbane's had its feed seems to be coming our way.

Asteron recently held a breakfast at the Marriot Hotel, Surfers Paradise announcing 100 enhancements to their suite of Policies. As a special treat, Layne Beachley was invited as guest speaker to let us know all about her own brand of Vitamins for Victory or Supplements for Success. Obviously coming from a 7 time world champion, we were interested in all her great ideas from how her own attitude has played a big part in her successes to maintaining a sense of fun in all we do. Layne Beachley is one of Australia's most iconic athletes. Synonymous with the nations outdoor lifestyle, Laynes success in the water has translated to a broad appeal on land. The only athlete to win six consecutive world surfing titles, Laynes achievements have enabled her to inspire others, establish her own charity, have a solid media presence and now build her own business and brand. We just had to catch up afterwards for a photo op and some autographs.What a great role model!
